Who We Are
The Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter (WCCS) is a non-profit organization providing free emergency services to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Primarily serving the Southeast Los Angeles area, WCCS has provided emergency and supportive intervention services since 1977.
Our Mission
The mission of the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter, Inc., is to serve battered women and their children by providing emergency and transitional shelter programs for battered women who request protection and assistance, by providing culturally relevant and supportive intervention services, by coordinating with other agencies working to improve the wellness of families, and by providing information for the prevention of family violence.
Our Approach
At the Women’s and Children’s Crisis Shelter and facilities, our goal is to empower our clients with the tools and resources that they need to put their lives together and move forward.Every client – whether mother or child – is treated with dignity and respect. Cultural differences are honored. Healthy relationships are fostered. Non-violent reactions are taught. Options are explored non-judgmentally. Individual choices are respected.
We work with community businesses, law enforcement agencies, local non-profits, area schools and colleges, and concerned citizens to break the cycle of violence and restore those who are victimized to wholeness.
