We invite you to become a supporter of Shelter’s Right Hand as we help break the cycle of violence by providing vital emergency and support services to victims of domestic violence.
Shelter's Right Hand, the auxiliary to the Women's and Children's Crisis Shelter (WCCS), is built on individuals, working hand in hand to make a difference in the lives of women, children, and men who seek a haven from the nightmare of domestic violence. Domestic violence funding continues to be at risk. That is why your support is needed more than ever.
Since 1978 the WCCS has served thousands of women and children by providing shelter on a short-term, 45-day basis for up to seven families at a time. Approximately two-thirds of the clients who enter are children, boys and girls from infants through age 17. An Outreach program was started in December, 2018 and as of this date, 21 victims have been helped. During the last fiscal year, July 2018 through June 2019, WCCS provided direct assistance to 2,299 hotline callers, and the emergency shelter gave safe haven to 159 clients.
Your membership dollars in Shelter's Right Hand help to provide emergency shelter, meals, emergency medical treatment, clothing, counseling, housing advocacy, assistance with immigration issues, parenting classes, schooling for the children, and a 24-hour crisis hotline. No one is turned away based on need.
In its 39th year as the auxillary to WCCS, Shelter's Right Hand has donated nearly 2.6 million dollars to the Women's and Children's Crisis Shelter, a safe haven for victims of domestic violence.
That includes the $126,000 that we gave this June for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. That breakdown is $66,000 from the Thrift Shop and $60,000 from the 2020 Virtual Walk.
We are grateful to you and our SRH family, for rising to the challenge in these unprecedented times. Stay safe and healthy.
This funding comes from our dedicated supporters, private donations, and the annual spring Stepping Out Against Domestic Violence 5K Walk. The Shelter's Right Hand also owns a volunteer-operated thrift shop and boutique in Whittier, where items and profits benefit the shelter. In addition to our funding for WCCS, we seek to educate and enlighten our supporters and community by presenting programs on issues relating to domestic violence.
Your support in Shelter's Right Hand entitles you to receive The Handprint Press, invitations to participate in the 5K Walk, and our annual volunteer appreciation brunch. But the greatest benefit is to know that you will help survivors of domestic violence who seek safety, healing, and hope at the Women's and Children's Crisis Shelter. We look forward to hearing from you.

Tanya Brown, sister of Nicole Brown Simpson, serves a great purpose. We are extremely grateful to have heard her story about healing, hope and restoration. May all her hard work and perseverance continue to reach millions of people. Let's continue talking about domestic violence. If you're in a violent relationship, you're not alone. As a community, we remain steadfast in our commitment to keeping families safe from domestic violence. Thanks to everyone who organized, sponsored and attended!
